With deep sorrow, the FIPSed announces the passing of Roland Marcq, a prominent figure and irreplaceable reference in the world of sport fishing.
A passionate angler from a young age, Roland dedicated his life to fishing, becoming not only an internationally recognized expert but also an example of dedication, competence, and sporting spirit. For many years, he honorably served as Captain of the Belgian National Fishing Team, leading the squad with passion and determination in numerous international competitions and repeatedly achieving the highest podium alongside his teammates.
In his tireless commitment to the growth and promotion of the sport, Roland also held the positions of Vice President of FIPSed and Chairman of the Technical Commission, making a significant contribution to the development and global spread of sport fishing.
The entire Board of the International Federation and the sporting world embrace Roland’s family with affection and emotion, especially his wife Mady, who stood by his side in all his activities, sharing the sorrow of losing a friend, a colleague, and a great man.
May the waters he so deeply loved be his eternal companions.
