It’s a motionless fishing method, practiced on-the-spot on a water area where ground bait has been previously thrown to attract fishes.
This method is practiced with different fishing techniques and sub-techniques: “Roubaisienne”, “Frenglish”, “Bolognese”, “English”; these techniques, coming from England, Italy or France, differ on the base of the tools used. This fishing discipline is practiced on a position assigned by drawing lots.
On-the-spot championships, consisting in two legs lasting three hours each, and practiced by teams of 4 or 5 anglers separated in 4 or 5 sectors, include:
- Championship for “NATIONS”; created in 1954 and today gathering 40 nations (2007: record of participation in Hungary);
- Championships for “YOUTH”; two competitions until 2007; from 2008 these championships will be run in three different categories: U 23, U 18 and U 14; created in 1997 (Juniors) and 1996 (Minors) these competitions gather a dozen of nations;
- Championship for “LADIES”; created in 1994, it gathers about fifteen nations;
- Championship for “VETERANS”; it will take place for the first time in 2008;
- Championship for “DISABLED”; created in 1999, it gathers a dozen of nations;
- Championship for “CLUBS”; created in 1981, it regularly gathers 25 nations;
- “EUROPEAN” Championship; created in 1995, it gathers about 25 nations.
